We've made it to Darwin OK. We aren't completely jet-lagged, but we are still a bit out of synch.
We flew over an amazing lighting storm over northern India, and saw a stunning sunrise over the Malaysian peninsula as we flew down it.
Kuala Lumpur was very hot and humid, we wouldn't have moved around much without air-conditioned malls to duck into every so often. It chucks it down for about half an hour a day, like this
One thing was really bothering me as we walked around in the evening. Something was wrong, but I couldn't work out what it was. It eventually dawned on me that the moon was directly overhead, something I had never seen before.
This is a rather nice fountain in the old centre of Kuala Lumpur:
We have been having trouble finding somewhere quiet to have a drink. The bar in the hotel in Kuala Lumpur had a band from the Philippines playing (guess what they were like). The bar here has an extremely loud juke box, and several friendly drunks.
In KL we went for a meal in a Thai restaurant, and managed to put together an order equivalent to steak and ice-cream. The waiter was very confused, and got another one with better English to sort things out. He was very good, and even managed to keep a straight face.
Ordering a meal in Darwin was a lot easier. They also have a superb cider here, made in Tasmania, much better than anything I have ever had in Yorkshire, and it isn't absurdly strong.
